Pakistan Earthquake

The death toll in Pakistan and surrounding areas is reported to be at 30,000. This is horrible. The people there will need as much help as we can muster...and you're not surprised that TSA is on the job.

The Salvation Army has served in Pakistan now for 122 years. Our officers and soldiers number in excess of 71,000. We can only hope that injuries and damages might be minimal for these brothers and sisters. We have no current information in hand. I expect that we will know more by Monday.

This I do know. Our people are at work in the recovery of the disaster. Support is being offered in terms of food, clothing, shelter, and counseling. It's what we do in these circumstances. We do it in the name of Christ and on His behalf. God...please help them.

Matthew 25:40 (KJV)
Mt 25:40 "And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."

It is indeed awesome to "be there"; often the gift of the Presence is the alms we bring. Being a flask for the Balm in Gilead....may the salvos and other NGO partners there be filled to the full measure of our risen Christ.

pax Christi,
