Global Unity

I dream of a time when all believers are able to join in their faith and declare the Lordship of Jesus to the world. This is a world that draws together all believers towards resolving the global problems...like war...hunger...health...affordable housing...responsible ecology...where everyone, everywhere is seen as made in the image of God with personal value, appreciation and dignity.

I believe that God is positioning TSA to be intimately involved in the process, calling all Salvationists, adherents, volunteers, board members and donors to join us in this holy pursuit!

Can we, a movement of God, move in this direction?

Exodus 34:10 (NIV)
"Then the LORD said: 'I am making a covenant with you. Before all your people I will do wonders never before done in any nation in all the world. The people you live among will see how awesome is the work that I, the LORD, will do for you.'"

Amen. The beauty of Christ would be seen in our unity as we advocated FOR justice, rather than allowing the emphasis always to be on protesting against what is negative. This would release all our creative and imaginative energies, capturing the hearts of all ages and backgrounds, as we explored ways to positively put across the smiling face of God to the world.

Jim,

Thanks for this post. A younger generation is dying to hear this message and wants to jump on board a movement FOR justice.

This may cause us some corporate pain. It will mean some sacrifice on the part of officers and soldiers. It may mean that some of our alliances within the Church will be strained before we get stronger. We will, however, be better for it.

I love the world emphasis. I believe as well that God is positioning The Salvation Army to play a vital role in this movement. I believe he is calling me personally to be involved with it. It is so great to see one of the current Army leaders (and I know there are many others who believe so also)publicly state that the whole world is our aim.

I agree wholeheartedly that God is positioning TSA to lead the way in tackling difficult global problems with compassion and integrity.

I am sure your reference to "calling all Salvationists, adherents, volunteers, board members, and donors" did not mean to exclude the many thousands of Salvation Army employees who passionately work to accomplish the mission of The Salvation Army". While some of us may choose to worship in other congregations, we worship with our lives as we carry out our day-to-day responsibilities.
