Mo' Cadets' Campaign

We have been hearing wonderful results in the Cadets' Campaigns. God is having His way. I am so grateful to Him.

Where's Project 1:17 this week? There must be something to report.

The first Cadets' Campaign I remember was when the likes of Cadet Bunny Olsen came with a married women's brigade to the Niagara Falls Citadel Corps. They were great. The next brigade sported Cadet Bill LaMarr and a men's brigade with Cadet Noel Christian. Was Captain Tom Mack the brigade officer? These men made an impact on my young heart. They thoroughly convinced me of their sincerity and calling. They also seemed to be having a good time.

Great days...Great Lord...Great Lord for today too...

Acts 26:16 (MSG)
16 "But now, up on your feet-—I have a job for you. I've handpicked you to be a servant and witness to what's happened today, and to what I am going to show you."

I continue to be "blown away" by the way the Lord is working through the cadets at our corps. As I shared with one of them at the close of our meeting tonight, I believe that the Lord is using this campaign as a springboard for explosive growth in Norwich. Read my blog for a daily summary of events!

Hi Colonel,

Things are going really well thus far for 117. We've been in the thick of the urban jungle since Saturday (we ended up leaving a few days early!)

This mission has been one blessing after another. Today, we were at Ironbound S.A./Boys & Girls Club where we did a senior's program; we conducted VBS at Vailsburg & Westside; were involved in SonDay's Cool & Bridging the Gap programs. All presented some amazing opportunities for ministry.

Tonight, I had an incredible conversation with a gentleman who's in the Bloods gang who was shot four times a few weeks ago, who is contemplating getting out of gang activity and going back to church. Kyle, one of our students, had a similar conversation with a younger teen. We have been amazed at the wonderful moments that have been made available to engage in truly frontline ministry!

The past few days have been packed with painting the main hall of Westside Corps, cleaning up Vailsburg, more VBS activities, visiting the Portuguese Boys and Girls Club soccer program, getting an Area Services tour, visiting the Newark ARC, conducting prayer walks and spontaneous basketball games, food pantry, Sunday Schools, Morning services etc. etc. (GASP!)

Tomorrow is our big Block Party at Westside Corps from 5 - 8:30 PM. If anyone is in the area we'd love to have you! We're expecting a good turn out. We are going to have three major moments in the block party to talk about the sacrifice made at Calvary. Please be praying for a mighty move of God's Spirit.

We praise God for the work He has been doing especially through the one-on-one times of ministry with our friends in Newark. This city has so much need and the ministry the Army does in this city makes me proud to be a Salvationist!!

I'm convinced the Officers there fit a modern-day definition of slum sisters/brothers! One thing for sure, is that they have taught us so much through their humility, ministry, and Chrislikeness!

Please continue to pray for miracles, ministry moments, and a lingering sense of the Spirit's presence that takes place during these next few days!

Blessings,

Steve Bussey
