Final Post

Dear Friends:

This is my final posting on Chiefspeak. What began as an experiment a year ago in the spring, turned out to be an interesting platform from which to connect with friends and strangers in the specific role of Chief Secretary, USA East. It has become a way to communicate the truths of the gospel, the workings of The Salvation Army, and the innuendos of my own heart.

I thank God for everyone of you who have taken a moment or two in your life to view the site. For the record, as I close today, it has amounted to 51,899 hits.

Forgive me for my recent flirtation with continuance under a different name. I liked each of the suggestions, but realized that the whole thing may have become too much of me. That would be a grave mistake, in that it isn't about me. It's about Christ and Him crucified, risen, and on the right hand of the Father, in love with Him and us.

It may be that I will re-enter the scene with something when Carolyn and I come to our new home and work in Australia...something fresh. We leave here on 26 July and will officially begin there on 1 August.

There's much to consider in this medium which I will not ignore, nor will I be a stranger to many of your blogs which are influencing my life affirmatively.

Carolyn sends her love.

Hallelujah!

Jim,

Thanks for turning us on to the medium of blogging. It has become a real forum for the sharing of feelings and good discourse on the issues that face us as Christians. We will be in touch.

Commissioners, may God continue to bless you both as you open a new and exciting chapter in your journey. Be assured of our continued prayers and thoughts (we’re saving for that visit!) We will take good care of your children and that wonderful grandson! God Bless you both, Tim & Lisa.

Your blog was part of my devotions in the morning at the office.
Your writings amused, convicted, encouraged and at times caused period of deep thought and soul searching on many topics.

I know God will use you both in powerful ways.

Blessings. But be warned the rabbis teach that the hardest thing to break in the universe is a habit! *laughter* Don't be afraid to re-create and inspire us again. Your blog made the army seem a friendlier place.

Thanks for the faithfulness to the medium and the message. I never got the sense that it was too much about you - rather, that it was written from who you are in Christ, and that is all any of us have to offer. While that is all we have to offer, it is what we have to offer, "Christ in you, the hope of glory."

I do hope you come back to this in some way as TC - there is something about regular contact and a sharing of self that adds to the effectiveness of leadership.

Much love to Carolyn.

Even as James and Carolyn say farewell and wing their way from the US to Oz, Aussie voices lift prayers for their safety and Aussie hearts prepare to make them welcome. To their friends and family in the US, we will take care of them..They are not far away from you.. we are all brought close, one body stretching around the world, one people by the grace of God.

May your day be full of blessings and may you be one to someone.
