Brass is Alive
The Spring Valley, New York Corps drew a responsive crowd tonight for their Spring Concert. B/M Derek Lance crafted an excellent mix of festival, praise and devotional music. B/M Charles Baker and his wife Michelle, from the Montclair, NJ Citadel Corps, were the guest soloists, expertly performing on their instruments of trombone and french horn, respectively. They are world class professional musicians with hearts for God and a willingness to present their talents to Him and for Him.
The Spring Valley Senior Songsters made their premier performance today with two beautiful selections that inspired us all. S/L Dorothy Gates is such a compliment to the corps and to the territory.
So another corps is seeing the high value of investing in people with brass music. Their beginner program is healthy as well. A brass program is a valuable asset in The Salvation Army that we must advance. I was blessed to be in attendance tonight. The Holy Spirit spoke to my soul throughout and I believe He wants us to do more of this. What about a brass section where you are?
Psalm 98:6 (KJV)
"With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the Lord, the King."

I wanted to be there -- in both groups -- but ministry calls in other areas as well. Glad it was such a success. Investment in our young adults is a very good thing!
