Jesus at G8

Three days in a row about London. Who would have thought?

I'm referencing an article captioned "Jesus at G8" from Christianity Today. In there you'll find quotes such as these:

Bob Geldoff "In the U.S. evangelicals are a huge force for change."

And this one by Bono: "If the church doesn't respond, who will?"

Their overall goal is to "make poverty history," and their specific goals are:

# Doubling financial aid sent to the world's poorest countries.

# Debt cancellation for the poorest nations.

# Reform of trade laws so poor nations are not shut out of global markets.

Let's put our faith into action and pray towards these ends. God is honored by our concern for the poor and our active faith.

"The very moment you separate body and spirit, you end up with a corpse. Separate faith and works and you get the same thing: a corpse." James 2:26 (MsgB)

Are we suprise? What an awesome display of Jesus. I believe that over the next few years we will be seeing more and more of Jesus sightings, until the the best sighting of all happens.
Oh Happy Day, when Jesus comes.

Where can man go that Jesus isn't already present? Who plants the seed for helping and forgiving? If not us, who?

Just added thoughts.

Even if I don't always agree with what Bono says, I agree here. The church should be the ones responding, and we are in many respects, but the question is are we responding enough- are we helping to our fullest capacities. Though Christ, we do have the power to change the world. I pray that we all ask- Lord, what can I do? What is my part? And listen and respond to His answer.

Even if only the four of us practise what has been said here, God is glorified. You have my word that I'll try.

What an inspiring blog! And it's great to see that there's at least one issue that evangelicals and liberals can agree on-- when Christians stop arguing among themselves and put force behind an issue-- it's a seriously powerful force.
