Cleveland ARC

God is at work in the Adult Rehabilitation Centers. We were a part of it today in Cleveland. Majors Karl and Beth Muhs are doing a fantastic job there and God is at work. We met staff and beneficiaries who are devoted to right living in Christ and recovery.

Where do these men come from (some places women)? Where do they go? Why aren't there more who embrace The Salvation Army as their church in their continuing pilgrimage?

Before we jump too quickly into negative responses, we should try to understand the issues and sort it out. Surely they're welcome at TSA...and needed.

Lord, help us to receive these loved ones to glorify you into the future. Thank you for entrusting them to us. Help them to know your will and good pleasure.

Ephesians 1:9 (NIV)
Eph 1:9 "And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ,"

Speaking of the ARC, church today was filled with the Hempstead ARC men...It was sooo packed that even I was having trouble finding a seat! It was amazing! The only time I ever see that is on special occasions like Easter or Christmas..Anyway Bill Rollins came down this weekend and led worship, which worked out perfectly because the staff band was away anyway!
Hope you enjoyed your time in Ohio!
God Bless

I think that it is possible the ARC is doing what Booth first thought the whole Salvation Army would do, get seekers on a faith foundation and then feed them into other churches (tied into their lives by family or geography). If such is their case, eventually they do give witness to the ministry received and hold a warm spot in their hearts for God's working through the Adult Rehabilitation Centers.

I spent every Sunday growing up having lunch at the ARC with my family and the officers. But I don't know the logistics of ARCs really. How do ARC 'follow up' after people either leave the program or graduate. I think if they're getting to church anywhere, that's one thing, but we need to continue to follow up. Well, there's a lesson for our corps even. Outreach is important, but so is follow up.

The comments are good. I think Booth changed his mind early on and decided to win the world for God with those who came to the Savior in TSA. He was jealous for every convert to partner with him.
